What is hypnotherapy, and what it can do for you ?

Your conscious mind is like the tip of an iceberg, below which lies your subconscious. It is here, below the surface that your habits, feelings and beliefs dwell. Hypnosis is a way to explore what lies below the surface in the otherwise hidden subconscious. Whilst exploring the deeper levels of our minds, we can encourage lasting positive personal changes.

Stop smoking!

Many people today want to free their lives and their bank balances from nicotine addiction. How am I able to help? Think of your PC – there are several programmes running on it right now. One runs your internet connection, others run the screen, keyboard and so on. Your brain can be though of as a really complicated PC. It has a programme which tells you that smoking is dirty, expensive, hurting your health. But this programme is in the conscious mind, the bit above the surface!

Under the surface is your much bigger and more powerful subconscious, where your habits live. The habit to reach for the cigarette at certain times is habitual. We can re-educate your brain to make that “smoking programme” weaker, and the “health programme” stronger.

You’ll still have to “tough out” the nicotine craving and only you have the willpower to do this. But your system purges the nicotine in a week and the cravings will pass.

Beware! That “smoking programme” is still in your brain! This is why sometimes people “fall off the wagon”. If you were to have even one cigarette, it starts to run more powerfully again, making staying off the cigarettes harder.

Forgiveness

Many people have bad memories of a person in their life that hurt them. It may have been many years ago but they feel unable to put the hurt behind them and move on. But when a person is able to forgive the biggest player in their life – mother, schoolteacher, spouse – then they feel so much better and can move forward into a brighter future. This is where I can help.

Have you noticed how some top athletes seem to “choke” on the big occasion while some others seem to thrive on pressure and go on to win the big final event? I believe that the “chokers” consciously overthink and start to worry about their performance, while the winners simply carry on with unconscious competence doing what they have learned in practice. Their movements flow naturally from within. Sports people call this unconscious competence “The Zone”. Musicians call it “The Groove”.

So the difference is “in the mind”. This is where I can help. Through trance we can learn to visualise and expect good feelings from that big event – the big game, the play performance, the presentation to the client - so that on the day our ability just flows out and we perform with confidence to get the result.
